October 3&4. Maryland Corvette Club annual weekend event in Ocean City, MD,
contact Ed Trott. Late registration will take place on October 3rd beginning at 11:00 a.
m. Starting on October 4th at 7:30 a.m., they will begin conducting 3 fun car shows, 2
road rallies, orchestrating their famous Corvette Boardwalk Parade, serving dinner
and awarding trophies to all of the successful winners from the car shows and road
rallies. Online registration began on June 1st. Website: www.freestatecorvette.com.
October 11-13. Shatley Springs Fall Mountain Cruise. Leave on Saturday at 8:00
am. This is our traditional fall mountain trip and will be planned by Sid & Helen
Purvis. See preliminary schedule at end of newsletter. The final schedule will be
provided the morning of departure. Deadline for hotel reservations in Jefferson was
September 11th, and the deadline for hotel reservations in Morganton is September
29th. Please let Sid Purvis know if you are planning to go, and if so, if you are
planning to return home on Sunday or Monday, and provide him with your cell phone
number(s). Remember to take your marine radio on this trip.
November 8. Goldsboro Car Show.
November 8. Veterans Day Parade, Morehead City.
November 12. Florida Keys trip. Bill White is sponsoring this event. Tentative plans
are to leave on November 12th, stop in Georgia for a viewing of a beautiful micro mini
car museum. Continue to Ocala, Florida for the first night, leave the next morning for
Marathon, Florida in the middle of the keys. Go to the TRCC reception that night and
stay in Marathon’s Banana Bay Resort for three nights. Go to Key West on Friday or
Saturday. Then on Sunday, leave and go North to Northern Florida or Georgia. After
leaving Ocala, stop for lunch in Naples, Florida at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant.
LaQuinta reservations in Ocala, FL and Savannah, GA can be made at 1-866-527-
1498 – “Gail White Group #092GRGPVP”; the room at Ocala is $64.00 and the room
at Savannah is $69.00. Come home on Monday. If you are interested, or have any
questions, call Bill White at (252) 808-2198. There are about 20 couples planning to
go at this time. There are 17 Gulf Front rooms lined up at $109.00 each. They have 8
pool side rooms at $95.00 each. Economy rooms for $79.00 each. Call Banana Bay
Resort at 1-800-Banana-1, ask for Kim and give her Bill White’s name. Nights at
Banana Bay Resort are November 13th, 14th & 15th. Reservations will be on a first
come basis. Call early if you want a Gulf Side room. Bill will be providing additional
information over the next coming months and watch for his emails regarding this trip.
November 30. Susan Tripp has arranged for the Club to have dinner at Mike’s Farm
near Beaulaville at 4:00 pm and then a hayride through the Festival of Christmas
Lights. More on this at upcoming meetings.
December 6. The Mike Casey Memorial Christmas Toy Run.
December 19. Christmas party at the River Bend Country Club. Al Kindler is
sponsoring this event. Dinner will be buffet style and $20.00 per person including tax
and gratuity. The buffet dinner will consist of Turkey/ham, chicken breast, ravioli with
spinach and chicken cordon bleau. A motion was made that the club pay for the DJ,
and was passed.
